ARRIVING IN BORA BORAWhether you fly or take a ferry to Bora Bora, just getting there is an adventure. If you fly, you will land on a 'floating' airport--yes, it is literally built out over the crystal clear, turquoise water! If you look down over the edge, you can see brightly colored fish nibbling on the platform. After you get off the plane, you'll get on a boat to either the village or your hotel. The Bora Bora airport provides a free ferry to Vaitape, the main village in Bora Bora. Hotels also provide transfers from either the airport, the ferry quay, or Vaitape village. If you take a ferry, you'll get to experience arriving like the first Polynesians did. The ferry to Bora Bora is an overnight trip which will give you the opportunity to enjoy, not only a wonderful cruise through the archipelago, but also enjoy the southern hemisphere's night sky with it's different star constellations.
