Close to the city, these two limestone hills have very interesting caves with beautiful stalactites and stalagmites. Towering over the Krabi River, they are the symbol of the province. This area is surrounded by mangrove forests where there are many bird species including a giant brown bird with yellow pointed pincers, green legs and a long neck called the fin foot.
2 Susan Hoi or Shell Fossil Beach
Millions of years ago, this area was a fresh water swamp teeming with pond snails. There are now fossilized in concrete-like fragmented sheets on the sea shore. It is possibly only one of three such geological formations in the world and the only one in a seaside location. 20km. from downtown, open 8:30 am to 5:00 pm.

3 Noppharat Thara Beach
This is the most accessible beach if you're staying in Krabi Town. During low tide you can walk to Khao Pak Khlong Island. 18 km. from Downtown Krabi. See Noppharat Thara Beach page.
4 Koh Phi Phi Islands and Maya Bay
Spectacular islands. This has been the location for movies like "The Beach" in Maya Bay. Ko Phi Phi Le is a National Park, and there are no accommodations. There are accommodations on Ko Phi Phi Don. See Ko Phi Phi and Maya Bay page.
5 Hong Island
These islands are popular for ecotourism adventurers, especially kayakers who explore the lush mangrove forests. White sandy beaches, limestone walls and secluded lagoons. Wildlife includes the crab-eating macaque monkeys. The most frequented islands in this archipelago are Lao Pi Lae and Hong Island, named after its internal lagoon accessible by a narrow passage resembling a room which in Thai is "hong".
6 Lanta Islands National Park
The park covers the islands of Ngai, Rok, Ha and Lanta. Over the last few years, this area has become one of the most desirable resort destinations in Thailand. The indigenous people of this region are called "Sea Gypsies" who used to build their homes on stilts in the sea. See Ko Lanta page.
7 Khlong Tom Hot Spring
57km from downtown. You can swim in moderately warm water in the limestone basins beneath a 3-tiered cascade.
8 Sa Morakot Pool (The Emerald Pool)
20 km. from downtown. The pool is fed by hot springs filtered through alkaline limestone, resulting in crystal-clear water. Located in Khao Phra- Bang Khram Wildlife Sanctuary, Thailand's last lowland rainforest. You may see some rare species including Gurnea's Pitta.
9 Phi Hua To Cave
Off this map to the North, it is located 51 km. from downtown. A two-tiered cave with prehistoric paintings. One of which is the image of a man covered with red stripes and a ghostly animal head with horns. The cave is named after this image in Thai which translates into "Ghost Head" cave.

10 Tham Suea Temple
The Golden Pagoda and replica of Buddha's footprint are at the top of Khao Kaeo. To get there, you need to climb 1,272 steps. Along the way to the summit, there are pathways leading to many caves in the hillside.
