Special Interest Travel Destinations

What's your passion? The best place to start, when building your around the world itinerary, is with the kind of experiences you want to have. What are your interests?

Ancient Ruins and Temples?
Culture and Museums?
Wine and Cuisine?
Outdoor Adventure?
Environmentally Conscious Green Travel?

Examples of Around the World Travel Itineraries:

Other travelers we met who were also going around the world:

  • A continent collector going first class, making at least one stop in every single continent. His last stop was Antarctica!
  • A California surfer traveling on the cheap through 3rd world countries, for as long as his budget lasted.

  • Two students taking a gap year, traveling the the backpacker way, going wherever the wind took them.
  • Oliver, who decided to quit his IT job and get his scuba diving instructor certificate. He was making his way through the best diving destinations around the world. From Spain, France, Thailand, Indonesia, Australia, Cook Islands, Tahiti, The Galapagos, Belize, Costa Rica, and Southern California. Wow!

Once you decide what you want do,

  • Narrow down your destinations. Be conservative with your time. Rushing from one place to the next trying to see and do everything leaves you exhausted and stressed. You'll want to treasure every moment.
  • Research your destinations. Consider where you’re getting information from, and take it with a grain of salt. Tourism oriented sources are trying to sell. Government travel warnings tend to be overly cautious to protect themselves from liability. The best source is from local people, and people who have traveled there recently.
  • Make your own decisions. Don’t choose a destination or route because someone else did it.
  • Part of your decision will depend on money. You might decide to stay longer in places where it’s less expensive to travel, and keep your visits shorter in more expensive places.
  • When you go, is also a factor. Going during low or shoulder season will make your funds go further, and there will be less crowds. Not all tourist spots will be active, but you’ll probably end up having a better experience. If you have your heart set on a particular attraction or activity, research it to make sure when it’s available.
