So you’re going on a
Trip Around the World

Travel Itinerary

“How to pick and choose from all those tempting destinations for your around the world travel itinerary.”

Here are the 3 key decisions you need to make before choosing your final around-the-world travel itinerary:

Personal Interests. What's your passion?

Budget. How much does a trip around the world cost?

Time. How long can you travel around the world?

Most people dream of starting with a month long tour of Europe, a few weeks in Eastern Europe, and a week or less in more exotic destinations like Africa to see the pyramids or go on a safari, India for the Taj Majal, and somewhere in Asia for some temples.

But consider this: first world countries are expensive. Scheduling those at the end of your trip, will keep you from blowing your budget.

Some people are intimidated about traveling in 3rd world countries, and want to get some experience traveling in the first world before going there. The opposite is actually better. Mistakes in the 3rd world are cheaper. For example, you learn to figure out how to get around taking trains and buses instead of taxis. If you can’t figure it out, taking a taxi in Cambodia is only $5US, in London, it’s $60US.

The language barrier is no longer a problem in today’s world. English is the common language, and most people you’ll meet in airports, hotels and tourist areas speak it. If it makes you feel better, you can always get an Electronic Translator.

With globalization, 3rd world travel is becoming ever easier. Fourth world travel however, is not changing as quickly and requires more self sufficiency. Spend some time in the 3rd world before you venture there. Don't limit yourself. We’ve heard of some people that choose their destinations according to what they pack. You’re off to see the world, why would you want to limit yourself because of what’s in your bag?!!!

As you travel from one region of the world to another the climate will be different. We went to several countries where the weather was hot. But not all hot weather is the same. None of my California “cool clothes” were cool enough, so I got rid of them.

In Australia it was hot and dry. I ended up buying a silk dress at a thrift shop that was light and delicious in that heat. But when we got to Thailand, it was so humid that within 10 minutes, that same delicious dress had stuck completely to my body. Yep, like a wet-t-shirt contest. So, I bought a couple of gauzy cotton dresses at a vendor stand by the beach.

These clothes were inexpensive and just right for the place. You can always find what you need when you get there, and toss or donate it along the way.
